Muscat International Airport Participates in World Environment Day
Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) participated in the World Environment Day which was held on the 5th June 2012, an awareness program on environment protection was organized at Muscat International Airport by planting plants and enhancing awareness through conducting environment programs such as competitions, lectures and quizzes. OAMC believes that the airport community must have the responsibility to protect the environment. Global warming is taken very seriously within OAMC and an environment program is in place which manages and monitors the efficient usage of fuel and energy saving. OAMC also participates with the stakeholders to work together to lower carbon emission and make the airports a greener place to work and travel through.

The world environment day was established by the United Nations General Assembly to mark the opening of the 1972 Stockholm Conference, the 2012 world environment day theme is Green Economy, this year is also the 40th anniversary for World Environment Day since the creation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 1972. This highlights that Green Economy is an essential for a brighter future.
